Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Tuna Mixture
Finely chop the tuna or pulse it in a food processor until minced.
In a large mixing bowl, combine tuna, breadcrumbs, egg, mayonnaise, green onions, soy sauce, sesame oil, ginger, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until just combined.
Step 2: Shape the Patties
Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape into burger patties about ½ inch thick.
Place the patties on a plate and refrigerate for 15–20 minutes to help them firm up.
Step 3: Cook the Tuna Burgers
Heat a non-stick skillet or grill pan over medium heat and lightly oil the surface.
Cook the patties for 3–4 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature of 145°F/63°C). Avoid overcooking to keep them moist.
Step 4: Assemble the Burgers
Toast the burger buns if desired.
Spread the bottom bun with your choice of sauce, then layer lettuce, a tuna patty, tomato slices, red onion, and avocado. Top with the other bun.
Tips for Success
For a firmer texture, chill the patties for longer before cooking.
Add a squeeze of lemon juice for brightness.
Customize with your favorite toppings, like pickles, coleslaw, or cheese.
