Tuna Stir Fry

Ingredients for Tuna Stir-Fry

For the Stir-Fry:

  • 8 oz frozen yellowfin tuna (thawed and cubed)
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil (e.g., canola or sesame oil)
  • 1 cup broccoli florets
  • 1 red bell pepper (sliced)
  • 1 cup snap peas
  • 1 small carrot (thinly sliced)
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1-inch ginger (grated)

For the Stir-Fry Sauce:

  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp honey or brown sugar
  • 1 tsp cornstarch (mixed with 2 tbsp water for slurry)

Instructions

Step 1: Prep Ingredients

  1. Thaw the tuna and pat it dry with a paper towel. Cut it into bite-sized cubes.
  2. Chop all vegetables and set them aside.

Step 2: Make the Stir-Fry Sauce

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, honey, and cornstarch slurry. Set aside.

Step 3: Cook the Tuna

  1. Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the tuna cubes and sear for 1–2 minutes on each side until lightly browned but still tender. Remove from the pan and set aside.

Step 4: Stir-Fry the Vegetables

  1. In the same pan, heat the remaining oil.
  2. Add garlic and ginger, cooking until fragrant (about 30 seconds).
  3. Toss in broccoli, bell peppers, snap peas, and carrots. Stir-fry for 3–4 minutes until vegetables are crisp-tender.

Step 5: Combine and Serve

  1. Return the cooked tuna to the skillet and pour in the stir-fry sauce. Toss everything together until evenly coated and heated through (about 1 minute).
  2. Serve hot over steamed rice or noodles.

Tips for Success

  • Avoid overcooking the tuna to keep it tender and flaky.
  • Swap vegetables with your favorites like zucchini, mushrooms, or baby corn.
  • For added heat, sprinkle red chili flakes or drizzle sriracha over the dish.
